we are talking Vakrasana of. ‘Vakra’ means ‘crooked’ or ‘bent’. In this asana we bend or ‘squeeze’ our body, and this process proves to be a boon for diabetic patients.
How does Vakrasana work?
Diabetes is directly to the pancreas gland present in our body. A hormone called insulin is released from this gland, which controls the amount of sugar in the blood.
When we practice Vakrasana and twist our body, it directly affects our abdominal organs, especially A gentle and healthy pressure on the pancreas puts. Due to this pressure, the pancreas becomes active and starts working better, which improves the process of insulin production. With regular practice, it helps a lot in controlling blood sugar level.
Not just sugar, there are other benefits too
- Belly fat will reduce: When you bend the body, it works on the muscles of the stomach and waist, due to which the stubborn fat stored there starts reducing.
- Spine will become flexible: This asana is an excellent stretching exercise for our spine. It makes it flexible and gives relief from back pain.
- Improves digestion: It also improves digestion by massaging the abdominal organs, thereby providing relief from problems like gas and constipation.
How to do this asana? (simplest form)
- First of all, sit comfortably on the ground and stretch both your legs straight in front. Keep the spine straight.
- Now bend your right leg at the knee and place the toe of the right foot on the ground near the knee of the left foot.
- Next, rotate your waist to the right and try to hold the toes of the right foot while bringing the left hand over the right knee.
- Support yourself by placing your right hand behind your waist on the ground.
- Try turning your head to the right and looking behind. In this position, keep breathing normally for 20-30 seconds.
- Now slowly come back to normal position and repeat the same process with the other leg.
Attention These people should not do this asana
- People who have serious problem of hernia or stomach ulcer should not do this asana.
- Pregnant women should also avoid doing this asana.
- If there is any serious injury to the waist or spine, do not do this without doctor’s advice.
