There are so many things to watch on TV at the moment that it can often seem hard to select something new to sample, but viewers have recently been raving about a Netflix series that's had them on the edge of their seats. The Netflix hit has been captivating TV fans for months, with many unable to stop watching the crime drama.
People have been saying how good the show is on social media, with one fan praising the series on Reddit. Naturally, others were quick to back up the claim that the series makes very gripping viewing, encouraging others to tune in.
It's been described as a "deep detective show" with "very interesting characters." Not to mention, people have been falling for a very particular character too.
A Reddit user wrote: "Dept. Q on Netflix. Please do yourself a favour and check this show out. Can't say enough about the writing, acting, plot and character development. Really hope this one gets renewed for a second season."
Luckily for fans, it has been renewed, so that's something for people to look forward to. It also stars Downton Abbey actor Matthew Goode in the lead role of Detective Carl Morck.
If you haven't seen it, Dept. Q is a British crime thriller series created by Scott Frank and Chandni Lakhani. It's based on the book series Department Q by Danish writer Jussi Adler-Olsen.
Even though it arrived on Netflix back in May, it's really enthused a lot of viewers. If you missed it, this show is said to be worth your while, as some have deemed it totally binge-worthy.
It basically follows the story of highly regarded detective Carl Morck (Goode) as he returns to police work. He has recently been involved in a shooting, which caused him to suffer injuries.
His colleague and friend, James Hardy, was also paralysed during the tragic event and a young uniformed police officer was killed. The series focuses on how he tries to overcome his trauma while working to crack an unsolved case at the same time.
The series is packed full of twists and turns, and explores all sorts of themes throughout. It's a show that seems to have kept viewers hooked since its release.
On social media, one person said: "Finished it already, this show is the real deal." Another added: "Same creator of Godless and Queen's Gambit so you know it was going to be good. Scott Frank is easily [in the] top five greatest screenwriters of the last 30 years."
A third replied: "Finished it last night and was enamoured by it. Matthew is stellar as always, but Akram and Rose stole the show for me. The dynamic between the three of them is so, so good."
Meanwhile, a fourth commented: "Was going to recommend this one! Great characters, plotline and edge of your seat cliffhangers."
Someone else also chimed in with: "This show was unexpectedly incredible. The bread crumbs on the twists are great, the acting is superb and Akram is my new favourite character in anything."
Others also deemed the series "amazing", while many were quick to praise Akram's character. Some also added that the books are equally as gripping.
One more said: "The books are great! Just about to start number nine, and have loved the journey so far. I think it's a 10 book series, so I'm trying to make it last as long as possible."
