Overview of UP Board Exams

The Uttar Pradesh Board, recognized as the largest examination board in India, has initiated the registration process for its 10th and 12th-grade examinations. This process commenced in July and extended through August and September.

Student Registration Statistics

Recent updates indicate that approximately 5.23 million students are expected to participate in the upcoming board exams for 2026. This includes 2.75 million students for the 10th grade and 2.479 million for the 12th grade, as reported by UP Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh on October 29. Notably, this marks a decrease of around 200,000 candidates compared to the previous year, and a reduction in examination centers is anticipated.

Extended Registration Period

The UP Board has extended the registration deadlines multiple times to accommodate more students. Initially, registration opened on July 15, 2025, and continued until August 5 without late fees. Following this, students could register until August 16 with late fees, and the final extension allowed fee submissions until September 1, 2025.

Advance Registration for Lower Classes

In addition to the higher classes, advance registration has been facilitated for 49,46,134 students in Classes 9 and 11. This initiative aims to streamline the planning of exam logistics, including question paper preparation and center arrangements.

Correction Window for Application Forms

Students have been granted the opportunity to amend any errors in their application forms. Corrections for Classes 10 and 12 can be made until October 31, while the deadline for Classes 9 and 11 is set for November 5. Schools and students are advised to adhere to these deadlines.

Preparation for Exams Underway

Preparations for the examinations are already in progress, with board officials actively working on question paper formulation and answer sheet printing. The entire process is being closely monitored to maintain security and confidentiality.

Potential Reduction in Examination Centers

There is a possibility of a decrease in the number of examination centers this year. Last year, over 8,000 centers were established, but this year it may be reduced to around 7,000. Officials assure that the centers will be strategically located to minimize travel for students while ensuring safety and transparency.
