Shreyas Iyer out of danger as family arrives in Sydney, sister shares post on Instagram

New Delhi: Shreyas Iyers family arrived in Sydney on Wednesday to support the Indian batter who is recovering from a ruptured spleen and rib injury sustained during the third ODI against Australia. The 30-year-old sustained an injury to his lower left rib cage last Saturday while making a challenging attempt to catch Alex Carey off Harshit Rana’s delivery. Shreyas sister Shresta Iyer shared an Instagram story revealing her location as Sydney. Shreyas Iyer was rushed to the hospital He was immediately taken to the hospital where the Board of Control for Cricket in India later confirmed that he had sustained internal bleeding Im currently in the recovery process and getting better every passing day Iyer said on social media in his first comments since the incident. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts Iyer said Suryakumar said physiotherapists termed the injury as rare Indias T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav stated on Tuesday that doctors and physiotherapists had termed the injury as rare. But rare things happen to rare talent. God is with him and he will recover soon. We will take him along with us he said. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday shared major update on Iyers injury. According to the BCCIs official statement a follow-up scan conducted on October 28 showed notable improvement in Shreyass condition confirming that he is recovering well. BCCI Medical Team will keep an eye on his development The BCCI Medical Team will keep an eye on his development while consulting with experts in Sydney and India Shreyas Iyer sustained a blunt injury to his abdomen resulting in a laceration of his spleen with internal bleeding on October 25 during the third ODI against Australia said a statement from the BCCI. The injury was promptly identified and the bleeding was immediately arrested. His condition is now stable and he continues to be under observation. A repeat scan done on Tuesday October 28 has shown significant improvement and Shreyas is on the road to recovery. The BCCI Medical Team in consultation with specialists in Sydney and India will continue to monitor his progress the statement added.
