Here are some practical and effective measures, which can help in reducing the ill effects of pollution.
Ways to detoxify the body from within
Drink enough water:
Drinking 8–10 glasses of water a day helps in removing toxins from the body.
Eat fruits containing Vitamin C: Lemon, orange, guava, amla and tomato strengthen the lungs and increase immunity.
Include green leafy vegetables: Vegetables like spinach, fenugreek, mustard greens and broccoli are rich in antioxidants.
Drink herbal drinks: Tea or decoction of basil, ginger, turmeric and black pepper can reduce inflammation caused by pollution.
Consume jaggery and honey: These help in removing the dirt accumulated in the lungs.
Be careful while going out
Use masks correctly: N95 or N99 masks are effective in blocking pollutant particles.
Avoid going out during peak hours: especially in the morning and evening, when PM levels in the air are higher.
Plant plants in the house: Plants like money plant, snake plant and aloe vera help in purifying the air.
Open windows for limited time: Open the windows of the house only when the air is relatively clean.
