For some people, turmeric milk may increase health problems.

People with kidney or bile problems:
The elements present in turmeric can sometimes put pressure on the kidneys and gall bladder. It is important for such people to consult a doctor before drinking turmeric milk.

People taking blood pressure and blood thinners:
Consumption of turmeric can thin the blood. Therefore, people taking blood pressure controlling medicines or blood thinners should not drink it in excessive quantities.

People with milk allergies:
People who are lactose intolerant or allergic to milk may experience stomach ache, diarrhea or skin allergies after drinking turmeric milk.

Pregnant women:
Excessive consumption of turmeric during pregnancy can sometimes increase problems or nausea in the womb. Therefore, it should not be consumed without doctor’s advice.

Benefits of turmeric milk

Turmeric milk, when consumed in the right quantity, increases immunity, reduces inflammation and helps in improving sleep. It is included in traditional remedies to provide relief from cold and cough.

Correct method and quantity

Experts recommend that one glass of turmeric milk daily is sufficient. You can drink it in the morning on an empty stomach or before sleeping at night. Also, it should be drunk lukewarm with milk and one should avoid adding too much spices or sugar.
