Bollywood's work-life debate: Sonakshi calls for better structure on sets
01 Nov 2025

Sonakshi Sinha, who is making her Telugu cinema debut with Jatadhara, recently opened up about the long working hours in the Indian film industry.

She noted that while she has worked for both eight and 18-hour shifts, better organization could help reduce the time spent on set.

She told Mid-Day, "But I think if things were more organized a lot of what takes 14 hours on set could be done in eight."

More structure needed, says Sinha
Crew's struggle

Sinha also highlighted the crew's long hours, saying they arrive earlier and leave later than actors.

"They have families too. There needs to be more structure so everyone can have a life outside work."

The actor is currently gearing up for the release of Jatadhara, a supernatural fantasy film directed by Abhishek Jaiswal and Venkat Kalyan.

In it, she plays Dhan Pishachini, a character who has guarded a gold treasure for centuries.

Role challenges

Sinha also spoke about the physical demands of her role in Jatadhara.

"I was usually exhausted under the weight of my jewelery, costume, and makeup."

"It took three hours to get ready every day! I'd often sit in a corner conserving energy because I'd be in a harness all day long."

The film releases on November 7.

Sinha wishes to do a biopic
Career goals

Sinha also revealed her desire to do a biopic and another period film. "Lootera [2013] was my last one," she said.

In another interview with ETimes, she also confirmed that she will begin shooting for the second season of the acclaimed thriller, Dahaad (2023), next year.

The show is produced by Excel Media & Entertainment and Tiger Baby in association with Amazon Prime Video.
