Rajesh Dube is the first coach of Indian cricketer Shivam Dube. A former wrestler, Rajesh recognized Shivam’s cricket talent at the age of four and personally trained him for over 20 years, often practicing with him from morning to evening. He massaged Shivam with mustard oil daily to build his strength and physique.
Rajesh set up a turf pitch in their backyard and gave hundreds of throwdowns himself, believing firmly that his son was destined to play top-level cricket. Even during financial hardships that forced the closure of his jeans factory and a five-year break from Shivam’s cricket, Rajesh never gave up. Despite the struggles, Rajesh says his only wish is simple: “Just open for India, this is my one wish” (My only wish is to see him play for India).
