New Delhi : From November 1, the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced by about Rs 4.50 to Rs 6.50 in major cities of the country, while there has been no change in the price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder. This price revision, announced by state-owned oil marketing companies, provides some relief to commercial consumers after a marginal increase in October.

In Delhi, the price of a 19 kg commercial cylinder has fallen by Rs 5 to Rs 1,590.50 from Rs 1,595.50 in October. The biggest reduction has taken place in Kolkata, where the price has fallen by Rs 6.50 from Rs 1,700.50 to Rs 1,694. In Mumbai, the price now stands at Rs 1,542, which is Rs 5 less than last month’s Rs 1,547. At the same time, the price in Chennai has decreased by Rs 4.50 to Rs 1,750 from Rs 1,754.50 in October.

However, there is no change in the prices of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder this month. Its retail price in Delhi is Rs 853, in Kolkata Rs 879, in Mumbai Rs 852.50 and in Chennai Rs 868.50. Stable domestic prices indicate that oil companies have decided to maintain stability for domestic consumers amid fluctuations in global crude oil prices.

This slight reduction in commercial LPG prices comes after the increase in October, when the prices were increased by Rs 15.50 in Delhi and Mumbai and by Rs 16.50 in Kolkata and Chennai. For new consumers, the process of getting a domestic LPG connection remains simple. Applicants can approach authorized distributors of Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum or Hindustan Petroleum with valid identity and residence proof such as Aadhaar, Voter ID card, passport or electricity bill. ISI-marked hotplate and safety LPG hose are mandatory before installation.

Overall, domestic consumers will see no change in LPG prices this month, but the commercial sector will get some relief amid fluctuations in global fuel prices.
