New Delhi: Former Indian captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth has sharply criticised Team Indias recent T20 selection policy. He specifically questioned the decision to appoint Shubman Gill as vice-captain stating that this decision has severely impacted the teams balance. “Gill will not be dropped now” – Srikkanth Speaking on his YouTube channel Cheeky Cheeka Srikkanth said that after being appointed vice-captain Gill will not be dropped from the team regardless of his form. “Gill will not be removed for the next three matches. He is now the designated vice-captain for the T20 World Cup and also a future captain. The question is if this was already decided then on what basis was he selected?” Srikkanth quipped. Impact on Team Balance He also stated that Gills inclusion has completely disrupted the teams balance. “Now they dont understand how to create balance. Sanju Samson and Tilak Varmas places are not fixed while Arshdeep Singh is out of the playing XI” Srikkanth said.He added sarcastically “The good thing is that the T20 World Cup is in India; otherwise it would have been difficult.” Yashasvi Jaiswals wait continues Srikkanths biggest grievance was the lack of opportunity for Yashasvi Jaiswal. He said it is surprising that such a talented player doesnt have a place in the team. “Jaiswal is waiting. He has performed brilliantly in the IPL and at the international level yet he is not getting a place in the team. If given a chance he can destroy any bowling attack.” Questions raised over selection committees decisions Srikkanths statements clearly indicate that the selection committee has prioritized leadership appointments over form and balance. Now with the T20 World Cup approaching and India being the host nation the pressure on the team management to find the right combination has increased. Story Highlights Srikkanth raises serious questions about Shubman Gills vice-captaincy Concerns raised about team balance and the uncertain roles of players Disappointment over the continuous exclusion of Yashasvi Jaiswal Increased pressure on selection policy ahead of the T20 World Cup
