The Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 has reached the important and final phase as India and South Africa is set to be meet in the high octane finals at Dr DY Patil Stadium.
Both sides are yet to claim their maiden World Cup title, and fans could expect a high voltage clash at Navi Mumbai.
However, rain could play a spoilsport in the contest which could have impact on the outcome. So, let us see if there is reserve day is available if the match on November 02 gets washed out.
What if Rain plays spoil sport?
According to section 13.6 of the ICC’s playing conditions for this tournament, “The semifinals and final shall have a reserve day allocated on which an incomplete match shall be continued from the scheduled day. No other matches shall have a reserve day allocated.”
Is there a reserve day for the CWC 2025 Finals?
Yes there is a reserve day for the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 finals. If the game cannot be completed due to weather interruptions on sunday, it will be rescheduled for November 03. We have also given the scenarios for the Reserve day.
Scenario 1 – If a If a full 50-over match begins on Sunday but is interrupted due to rain, for eg: 15 overs, and the match is reduced to 40 overs per side but cannot resume on the same day, it will be a fresh 50-over contest the following day.
Scenario 2 – If play resumes after being reduced to let’s say 40 overs, but rain returns and stops play again. The match will then continue from the reduced point on the reserve day and not as a fresh game.
Scenario 3 – If the game gets washed out on the reserve day also, the trophy will be shared between both the sides.
