Bhopal, 03 November (Read). A wonderful sight of Hari-Har Milan will be seen tonight in Ujjain, the city of world famous Jyotirlinga Lord Mahakaleshwar. Here, on the occasion of Vaikuntha Chaturdashi, the silver palanquin of Lord Mahakal will reach Gopal Temple via Gudri Square and Patni Bazaar, where the tradition of union of Hari (Lord Vishnu) and Har (Lord Shiva) will be performed. It is believed that on this day Lord Mahakal hands over the responsibility of creation to Shri Hari Vishnu. Thousands of devotees will witness this unique meeting with special worship.

The administration has made strong security arrangements. CCTV, barricading and fire brigade are deployed on the entire route. At the same time, Ujjain Collector Roshan Kumar Singh has issued an order under Section 163 (1) of the Indian Civil Defense Code, 2023, completely banning the use and operation of fireworks and Hingot rockets and the manufacturing, sale and storage of Hingots/rockets during the ride of Lord Mahakaleshwar during the Harihar Milan (Vaikunth Chaturdashi celebration) to be held on the midnight of 03rd and 04th November.

According to the Puranas, for four months from Dev Shayani Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu goes to the underworld to rest at the place of King Bali, then the power of the earth is with Lord Shiva. Then when Lord Vishnu wakes up on Dev Uthani Ekadashi, then on the day of Baikunth Chaturdashi, Lord Shiva again hands over this power to Lord Vishnu and returns to Mount Kailash for penance. This tradition is called Hari-Har.

This tradition is carried out every year in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. This time too, on Vaikuntha Chaturdashi, Baba Mahakal’s silver palanquin will be taken out after special worship in the assembly hall of Mahakaleshwar temple at 11 pm on Monday. This ride will reach Gopal Mandir via Gudri Square, Patni Bazaar. Special worship of Lord Shri Hari will take place in Gopal temple. The priests of Mahakal will offer Bilvapatra garland to Shri Hari, while the priests of Gopal temple will offer Tulsi garland to Mahakal. In this symbolic moment, Lord Shiva hands over the responsibility of running the universe to Vishnu.

Administrator of Mahakaleshwar Temple Committee, Pratham Kaushik said that all the preparations for Hari-Har Milan have been completed. Strict arrangements have been made for cleanliness, lighting, barricading and crowd control on the ride route. Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma said that CCTV cameras have been installed on the ride route. Fire brigades are deployed and strict action will be taken against those throwing banned fireworks or hingots. Every year thousands of devotees reach Ujjain to see Harihar Milan. Devotees welcome Baba by donating lamps and showering flowers on the streets. This scene is not just a religious ritual, but a unique confluence of the powers of creation and maintenance. ,
