Delhi: On Sunday night, 2 November, the Indian women’s cricket team created history. The team won the World Cup trophy for the first time at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. As soon as South Africa’s last batsman was out, the whole country rejoiced. After the victory, prizes and money were showered on the team.

MP government announced reward

After BCCI and ICC, now Madhya Pradesh government also announced the reward. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced Rs 1 crore to team player Kranti Gaur and congratulated her. India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final. This victory was celebrated across the state. Fireworks were set off till late night in Bhopal and Indore. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, former Chief Minister Kamal Nath and State Congress President Jitu Patwari also congratulated the team.

Kranti Gaur, daughter of Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, made an important contribution to the team’s victory by giving only 16 runs in three overs in the final. People in Ghuwara village watched the match with great enthusiasm and celebrated with drums and fireworks after the victory. Kranti had promised her mother before the match that she would return after winning the World Cup.

Before the World Cup, the team visited Baba Mahakal at Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain. On October 15, players and coaching staff participated in Bhasma Aarti and prayed to God for the success of the team and pride of the country. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and other players were present during this period. The temple administration honored all the players.
