After years of determination and heartbreak, Team India’s women’s cricket team finally achieved what they had dreamed of for so long — winning the Women’s World Cup 2025. India defeated South Africa in the final match to lift their first-ever World Cup trophy, marking a historic moment in Indian cricket. Following this emotional victory, the team celebrated in a unique way — by singing a special team anthem that had been composed four years ago.

The Victory Song That Took Four Years

According to the BCCI, the song was written and composed four years ago by the players themselves. It was meant to be sung only after India’s first-ever Women’s World Cup win. After three consecutive disappointments in previous editions, the dream finally came true in 2025.
The BCCI shared the video of the players singing the song on social media, which instantly went viral. Batter Jemimah Rodrigues revealed that the team had promised to release the song only when they became world champions.

The song’s lyrics reflected the team’s fighting spirit and unity:

“Team India, Team India, let’s make everyone’s wind tight,
Team India has come to fight,
No one should take our light, our future is bright,
No one will mess with us, we will create a riot…
We will walk on the moon, we will rise together,
We are Team India, we will win together.
Our tricolor will always fly high — we are Team India!”

India’s Dominant Performance in the Final

In the final match held at Navi Mumbai, India lost the toss but came out strong with the bat. The top order built a solid foundation —

  • Smriti Mandhana scored 45 runs,

  • Shafali Verma smashed a brilliant 87,

  • Deepti Sharma contributed a crucial 58 runs,

  • and Richa Ghosh added 34 runs to the total.

Team India posted an impressive 298 runs on the board in the first innings.

South Africa Collapses Under Pressure

Chasing a challenging target of 299, South Africa failed to handle the pressure. Despite a valiant century by captain Laura Wolvaardt (101 runs) and Derksen’s 35 runs, the rest of the batting lineup crumbled.
Deepti Sharma’s five-wicket haul and Shafali Verma’s two wickets sealed the victory for India, bowling South Africa out for 246 runs.

A Historic Day for Indian Cricket

This victory not only marked India’s first Women’s ODI World Cup title, but also showcased the team’s unity and resilience. The special victory song became a symbol of their long-awaited triumph — a tune that echoed with pride, passion, and the spirit of Indian cricket.
