In Gujarat, a man installed CCTV behind his married ex-girlfriend's house to spy on her. After the camera was found, a case of harassment was registered against the accused. Police have started investigation.

Ahmedabad: This incident is an example of how crazy a person can go in love and behave like a psycho. In Gujarat, a boy installed CCTV behind his married ex-girlfriend's house to keep an eye on her activities. This incident took place in a village in Kadi taluka of Mehsana district of Gujarat. A man installed a CCTV camera behind his ex-girlfriend's house and spied on her 24x7. Later, when the woman and her husband came to know about this, they filed a case against the man for harassment.

Meeting continued even after marriage: Husband put full stop on this relationship

According to a senior officer of Mehsana police, the woman who complained worked as an Anganwadi worker in a village in Kadi taluka. She had an affair with the accused for about 10 years. This relationship continued even after marriage but when her husband came to know about it, their relationship ended. The woman and her husband met the man and asked him to end the relationship there. After this the woman stopped meeting him.

Used to harass me by following me everywhere: CCTV found while cleaning behind the house

Bavlu Police Inspector S.R. Chaudhary told that the accused was continuously harassing the woman. He would visit her place of work, hang out near her house and keep an eye on her movements by following her wherever she went. One day when the woman and her husband were cleaning the area behind their house, they found a small CCTV camera hidden in a bush.

When the husband became suspicious after seeing the CCTV camera behind the house, he checked the memory card of the device and in the footage, the accused was seen standing in front of the camera. This convinced the husband and wife that he had installed this camera to keep an eye on the daily activities of his ex-girlfriend.

After this the husband lodged a complaint against the accused at Bavlu Police Station. Initial investigation has revealed that the accused had also obtained footage from another CCTV camera of that area to keep an eye on the movements of the woman. "We have registered a case of harassment under the Indian Judicial Code in connection with the incident and have started investigation," Choudhary said.

Police said that such actions are a serious violation of a person's privacy and cause mental distress to the victim. The cameras and memory cards have been sent to the forensic lab to find out how long he was spying on and whether the footage was shared or stored elsewhere.
