Significance of the Himalayas
On Monday, Kiren Rijiju, the Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, emphasized that the Himalayas represent not just mountains but also the strength, spirituality, and national identity of India. He made these remarks as the chief guest at the 'Sparsh Himalaya Mahotsav 2025' held in 'Lekhak Gaon'.
Rijiju, who hails from Arunachal Pradesh, expressed a deep emotional connection to the Himalayas, stating, 'The Himalayas are not merely mountains; they symbolize India's strength, spirituality, and identity.'
Infrastructure Development in Border Areas
The minister praised the efforts under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership to enhance road connectivity and infrastructure in border regions, particularly in the Gunji area of Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand. He remarked that the beauty of India lies in its diversity.
Rijiju noted, 'Even though we speak different languages and celebrate various traditions, our values and vision unite us.' He commended the initiative of former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', describing 'Lekhak Gaon' as a vibrant example of India's cultural, literary, and ecological renaissance. The theme of the festival was 'International Literature, Culture, and Arts Festival.'
Celebrating 25 Years of Uttarakhand
Dr. Nishank dedicated this event to the 25th anniversary of Uttarakhand's formation and the vision of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for 'Lekhak Gaon'. During the program, Dr. Nishank welcomed the Union Minister and highlighted that the aim of the 'Lekhak Gaon' initiative is to transform villages into centers of creativity, culture, and education.
