Dr. Himanshu Bhadani, Pediatrician at AIIMS New Delhi, says that some parents think that nebulizer is only a steaming machine, but it is not so. The medicine put in it is for the lungs. If the dose of that medicine becomes more or less than required, it can harm the health of the child.

There are some cases where the child's health deteriorated due to wrong use of the nebulizer. In such a situation, care should be taken regarding medicines. Also keep in mind that nebulizer should not be given in case of mild discomfort. If the child has a mild cough then just giving steam can help.

Which medicine is given in which problem?

Dr. Bhadani explains that many types of medicines are given in the nebulair. All these are for different health problems. Asthalin (Salbutamol) is given for symptoms like breathlessness and asthma. Budesonide can be given for swelling and Levolin, Duolin can be given for bronchitis, but you should give any of these medicines only on the advice of the doctor. During this time, keep the dosage also in mind. The dose should be as much as prescribed by the doctor.

Clean the machine and mask after every use.
