New Delhi: The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has taken strong action removing former Indian wicketkeeper Surinder Khanna and former Delhi player Ashu Dani from their positions. Both were recently linked to the controversial Indian Heaven Premier League (IHPL) tournament held in Jammu and Kashmir. IHPL Tournament Becomes Center of Controversy The IHPL T20 tournament was touted as a major cricket event in Jammu and Kashmir but it ended in a highly embarrassing manner. The organizers suddenly disappeared leaving hotel bills unpaid and players stranded. The tournament began on October 25 at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar and was scheduled to run until November 7. Around 40 players including international names like Chris Gayle Jesse Ryder and Thisara Perera were participating. Mismanagement Evident from Day One Disorganisation was evident from the very first day of the tournament. Attendance was lower than expected forcing organisers to reduce ticket prices. It later emerged that the organisers had neither prepared contracts for the players nor provided the necessary facilities. This raised serious questions about the tournaments credibility. DDCA Takes Strict Action On November 2 the DDCA issued a statement warning all players coaches and officials against participating in any unauthorized or unapproved tournaments. Now according to reports Surinder Khanna (Cricket Advisory Committee member) and Ashu Dani (Chief Junior Selector) have been removed from their roles. A DDCA official stated that a criminal case has been registered against Dani and he is expected to resign. Khannas work for the season had already concluded and he will not be involved in any further selection processes. Story Highlights DDCA removes Surinder Khanna and Ashu Dani from their positions.
