Rachel Reeves stood at that podium in Downing Street and gave a laundry list of excuses. A big waffle-bomb with no answers, no conviction, and no direction.
Apparently, she slipped out this speech three weeks before the Budget - something no serious Chancellor ever does - to "set the context". But instead of clarity, Reeves has created chaos.
Business leaders are none the wiser on which taxes are going up. Investors are confused. Workers are rightly anxious.
The truth is, Labour don't have a plan to get Britain working again. They have a plan to keep Britain waiting - waiting for growth, waiting for leadership, waiting for someone, anyone, to take responsibility.
Rachel Reeves can't get our economy growing because she doesn't believe in or listen to the people who create economic growth.
Businesses are telling her the Jobs Tax has made it harder for them to hire and is driving up prices.
Investors are saying they can't trust a Chancellor who borrows and spends with such little discipline.
Farmers have made it very clear that the Family Farm Tax is going to devastate their industry.
But Rachel thinks the state knows best, and the rest of us should just keep quiet and pay the bill.
That's the big difference between the Conservatives and all the other parties - Labour, Liberal Democrats, Greens and Reform.
Their answer to every problem is more government. We know the answer is more freedom - for businesses to hire, for people to work, for families to keep more of what they earn.
Only the Conservatives are committed to ensuring that we get on top of public spending.
Only the Conservatives will fix our broken welfare system and get Britain working again.
When Rachel Reeves blames the global economy for our anaemic growth, it's because she's run out of ideas.
When she blames the last government, it's because she's run out of courage.
And when she blames everyone else, it's because she's running out of time.
Britain cannot be rebuilt by a weak Chancellor who has already given up on it.
Labour can only manage decline. Conservatives have a serious plan for a stronger economy, and we will make Britain work again.
