Actor Salman Khan has landed in legal trouble after the Kota Consumer Court issued a notice to him over allegedly misleading advertisements for a pan masala brand he endorses.

The complaint was filed by Inder Mohan Singh Honey, a senior BJP leader and advocate at the Rajasthan High Court, who accused the actor and the makers of Rajshree Pan Masala of deceiving consumers through false claims in their advertisements.

According to the complaint, the brand’s promotion of its product as “saffron-infused cardamom” and “saffron-infused pan masala” is misleading, as it is impossible for a product costing Rs 5 to contain saffron, which is priced around Rs 4 lakh per kilogram. The petitioner further alleged that such advertisements not only mislead buyers but also encourage the youth to consume pan masala, a product linked to oral cancer.

“Salman Khan is a role model for many people. We have filed a complaint against it in the Kota Consumer Court, and notices have been issued for a hearing. Celebrities or film stars in other countries don't even promote cold drinks, but they are promoting tobacco and pan masala. I urge them not to spread the wrong message to the youth, as pan masala is one of the leading causes of mouth cancer,” the petitioner told ANI,” Honey told ANI.

Following the complaint, the consumer court has issued notices to Salman Khan and the manufacturer, seeking their formal responses. As per reports, replies from both parties are awaited, and the next hearing is scheduled for November 27.
