India has described this action of the Pakistan government as against religious freedom and a disregard for bilateral tradition. New Delhi has considered this as an act of provoking the pilgrims against India.

According to an intelligence report by CNN-News18, between October 15 and 30, 2025, at least 148 Indian citizens were deported by Pakistani authorities from the Wagah border.

Part of ISI conspiracy

In fact, last month Pakistan had refused entry to more than 148 Indian pilgrims despite valid visas and prior government approval. According to CNN-News 18, at least 148 Indian citizens were issued valid visas to visit Nankana Sahib, Kartarpur and Panja Sahib between 15 and 30 October 2025. Instead of allowing them entry into Pakistan, Pakistani authorities kept the passengers in long custody and after interrogation sent them back through Wagah border.

At the same time, at the behest of ISI, Pakistani media like Geo News, ARY Digital and other agencies broadcast misleading news in this regard. Whereas this was part of a deliberate strategy by Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI.

However, these allegations have been rejected by Pakistani officials that Pakistan’s intention behind this is to incite anger against New Delhi among the Indian Sikh communities. According to the report, after this matter came to light, ISI’s media monitoring cell activated more than 300 proxy social media accounts and religious networks on X and Facebook. These accounts promoted false claims that India had turned away its own pilgrims and portrayed this as ‘administrative chaos’ in the Indian system.

Media organizations in both Urdu and English languages accused New Delhi of suppressing minority rights. While praised the decision of Pakistani government. Also said that the doors of Islamabad are open for pilgrims as always.

Part of Ghazwa-e-Hind agenda

These news were published by those digital ecosystems which have been in favor of Ghazwa-e-Hind and Khalistan from the beginning. Similar visas were also refused between April 2024 and November 2023. In both the cases, Pakistan ISI’s pattern of blaming the Indian government for harassing the passengers was the same.

Surprisingly, between October 28 and November 2, there was a 400 percent increase in such posts, which were simultaneously retweeted and shared on handles associated with Pakistan, the Gulf region and the expatriate communities.

Diplomatic sources in Islamabad told News18 that despite getting approval from Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs, Indian pilgrims were made to wait for more than 10 hours at the Wagah border and were sent back without any written explanation. He said that this decision was taken after the direct intervention of ISI, which bypassed the approval of the ministries.

In the spirit of revenge, Sikh passengers were made shields
