Vijay's Unwavering Determination

Following the tragic stampede in Karur at the end of September, actor Vijay has finally broken his silence. Speaking to members of his Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam party, he described the challenges he faces in his political journey as temporary and firmly stated that nothing can prevent him from winning the 2026 elections.

Reiterating His Commitment

In his speech, Vijay reiterated his previous remarks made during a public meeting prior to the stampede. He expressed, 'I will repeat what I said in my last public meeting. When nature and God are on our side, and our people stand with us, who can stop us? These challenges are only temporary; let’s break through them. Our journey will not halt. Let’s remain confident, and good things will surely happen.'

Expressing Pain Over the Tragedy

The actor also addressed the 'unnecessary' political discussions that arose following the stampede. He shared, 'I have been in immense pain and distress due to the loss of family members. It is our duty to stand with our people’s emotions during such times.'

He added, 'During times of peace and sorrow, baseless rumors and negative political narratives were spread and imposed upon us. The aim of these was to undermine law and truth. However, we will stand firmly with the law and truth, dispelling these lies.'

Details of the Karur Stampede

On September 27, a stampede occurred during a rally led by Vijay's party, resulting in the deaths of 41 individuals and injuring nearly 60 others.

Mathiyazhagan, the district secretary of Karur, who was arrested in connection with the incident and later released on bail, described the event as a conspiracy and a tragic occurrence.

After returning to Chennai, Vijay expressed his condolences and prayers for the victims on social media. On September 28, he announced financial assistance of ₹20 lakh for each deceased victim's family and ₹2 lakh for the injured.

One month after the tragedy, on October 27, he met with the families of the victims for the first time at a resort in Mamallapuram, near Chennai.
