Cupertino, November 5 (Read): Apple has confirmed that its much-awaited Live Translation feature for AirPods will finally roll out to users in the European Union next monthfollowing a brief delay.

The feature, first announced alongside the AirPods Pro 3 in September, is also available on the AirPods 4 with ANC and AirPods Pro 2. It works when paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone running iOS 26 or later.

At launch, Live Translation supported English (UK and US), French, German, Portuguese (Brazil)and Spanishbut it wasn’t available in the EU due to compliance requirements under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Apple now says the feature will go live for EU users in Decemberafter completing additional engineering work.

The feature currently supports English, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional Mandarin), Japanese, and Korean. It delivers real-time translations directly through the AirPods, ensuring on-device processing for privacy protection.

When both speakers use AirPods with the feature enabled, Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) helps focus on the translated audio by reducing background noise and the other person’s voice. If the other person doesn’t have AirPods, users can view live transcriptions on their iPhone.

Live Translation is also integrated across Messages, FaceTime, and the Phone appallowing seamless multilingual communication whether through calls or texts.
