India Post Payments Bank: Pensioners do not need to visit a bank or EPFO office. IPPB will provide door-to-door service. There are over 1.65 lakh post offices and over 300,000 postal employees across the country.

How to Submit Digital Life Certificate: If you or someone in your family is an EPFO pensioner, this news is useful for you. Yes, under the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995 (EPS’95), the EPFO will allow pensioners to submit their Digital Life Certificate (DLC) from their homes. For this, the EPFO has signed an agreement with India Post Payments Bank (IPPB). Digital Life Certificate (DLC) is a biometrically enabled, Aadhaar-based digital life certificate for pensioners.

Millions of pensioners will benefit.

Each DLC has a unique ID number, called a ‘Pramaan-Id’. The best part is that the Pension Disbursing Agency processes it automatically. Now, after the facility of the digital life certificate has been started, lakhs of pensioners will be able to avail its benefits.

How does DLC work?

Pensioners do not need to visit a bank or EPFO office. IPPB provides door-to-door service. There are over 1.65 lakh post offices and over 300,000 postal employees across the country. Proof is generated by face and finger verification using biometric machines operated by IPPB staff. This service is free, and EPFO covers the cost.

Life Certificate Required to Submit Annually

EPFO pensioners are required to submit a life certificate every year. Submitting this certificate proves their survival. Pension is credited to their account only after submitting the DLC. Pensioners must submit the life certificate between November 1st and November 30th each year. Submitting this certificate does not stop their pension. Senior citizens above 80 years of age will be able to submit life certificates from October 1, 2025. IPPB started door-to-door DLC service in the year 2020.
