According to Dr. Manusrut, dust, pet hair, mold, use of AC or heater, sleeping under a fan, and certain sleeping positions can aggravate nasal congestion. Ways to get relief from nasal congestion
To avoid nasal congestion, it is important to keep the nasal passages clean and moist. Dr. Manusrit has six suggestions for this: rinse with saline nasal spray or salt water before going to bed and before getting up, wash bedding and sheets in hot water weekly, use dust-proof covers, keep a humidifier in the room, avoid strong fragrances and incense sticks, and inhaling steam in the morning helps loosen mucus and open the nose.

If nasal congestion persists for more than two weeks or is accompanied by snoring, loss of smell, facial pressure or frequent sinus headaches, an ENT specialist should be consulted. Dr. Manusrut explains that this could be due to sinusitis, nasal polyps or deviated septum, which require medical attention or a minor procedure.
