Prime Minister Narendra Modi raked up "RJD's jungle raj" to caution women and youths against return of the party that ruled Bihar from 1990 to 2005. He expressed confidence that these two segments of voters will stand by NDA and keep out the regime that "wiped out the dreams of one generation".
Modi addressed NDA election rallies at Araria and Bhagalpur on Thursday. In his speech, he said NDA has only one pledge - to ensure health and education to all as well as employment, and redressal of grievances of all sections.
"Your vote has a lot of power and you should realise this... In the 1990s, RJD's jungle raj had gripped Bihar... The dreams of your parents were crushed. From 1990 to 2005, in 15 years RJD's jungle raj destroyed Bihar. You were looted in the name of governance... Do remember the figure zero. In these 15 years of jungle raj, the number of expressways built, number of bridges built on Kosi, tourist circuits formed, sports complex developed, medical colleges built is a big zero. Neither did any IIT or IIM come to Bihar, nor any national law university. RJD leaders ate away the future of one whole generation," Modi said.
"Phir ek baar sushashan sarkar (good governance). The hopes and aspirations of women and youth are based on this slogan. This is Modi's guarantee. Your dreams are Modi's resolve. The jungle raj-walas used to pose as your mai-baap, as Sehanshah. For Modi, you are the be-all and the remote control... My hard work round the clock is only for your better future," Modi said.
"My biggest strength are the mothers and sisters who have taken a pledge to make a prosperous Bihar. I have full faith that they will not let jungle raj come back," he said.
The PM alleged Congress and RJD are a divided house and things will get worse after the election results. The prime minister also reached out to the farmers, saying irrigation facilities to parched fields is a high priority for his government and the project to link Kosi and Mechi rivers is a part of this.
