WhatsApp Update Cyber Security: WhatsApp It is going to introduce a new feature to further strengthen the security of its users. This feature has been specially designed to protect against cyber attacks and online fraud. It has been seen in the beta version of Android, and soon it will be rolled out for all users.
Strict account setting mode will come in WhatsApp
The company is naming this new feature “Strict Account Settings Mode”. Through this, users will get complete control over their security settings. Once you activate this mode, all the security settings of the app will be applied with a single toggle. Users will no longer need to go separately to change privacy options. When this feature is activated, the user’s IP address and location data will be completely protected, making it impossible for anyone to track the user.
Files coming from unknown people will not be downloaded
Keeping security in mind, WhatsApp has made another major change in this mode. Now if someone sends a file, photo or video from an unknown number, it will be automatically blocked. This will eliminate the risk of malware or hacking software being installed in the device. However, only text messages will be received from such numbers so that there is no hindrance in getting important information. Apart from this, the company is also considering disabling the link preview, so that the chances of clicking on fake or phishing links are reduced.
Calls coming from unknown numbers will be muted
Another important feature has been included in this new feature of WhatsApp, now calls coming from unknown numbers will be automatically muted. This feature will protect users from spam calls, scams and zero-click attacks. Also, information like user’s photo, status and last seen will be visible only to saved contacts. In this way, all the settings to privacy and security can be activated in a single click.
