Andi Peters turned down a substantial fee to appear on this year's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! The 55 year old broadcaster consistently declines invitations to participate in the ITV jungle reality programme, which is shot in Australia. Speaking on the most recent instalment of the Spooning with Mark Wogan podcast, the Good Morning Britain personality revealed: "I always say never say never. I was asked to go into it this year. I get asked most years, and I've always said no. The cheque is quite big. But I've chosen not to. It is well known that it is one of the best-paying shows in television."
During another segment of the podcast, Andi expressed his desire to keep his personal life distinct from his professional commitments. The This Morning host elaborated: "My job is my job. I take myself to work, I do my job, and I go home. I do my job because I love my job. Everything else, when I shut my front door, that's my house. I remember once I did homes and gardens once. And the question was, can we shoot in the kitchen? I said, well, no, because that's my house. And so I did the garden, and only the garden, and you never saw the house.
"I come from the older generation. As far as I'm concerned, you do a job because you do a job because you like a job.
"If you work at a supermarket, and you finish on the till, you go home, and that's your life, you don't even think about your work until you get back there.
"Everybody has a platform to voice their opinion. I will never let somebody be horrible or mean or slag me off to somebody that's a relation of mine. They didn't choose to be a relation of mine. That's blood.
"Therefore, I do what I do. They do what they do. And the two don't need to cross."
With one major celebrity declining to appear on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!
this year, numerous other famous faces are rumoured to be joining the forthcoming series, which kicks off on November 16.
Speculated participants include media figure Jack Osbourne, 39, pugilist Conor Benn, 29, Emmerdale's Lisa Riley, 49, EastEnders' Shona McGarty, 33 and 72 year old comic Ruby Wax.
An ITV representative has declined to comment on any of the celebrities being associated with the show.
