Prayagraj. Allahabad High Court has rejected the bail applications of mafia Atiq Ahmed’s brother-in-law Dr. Akhlaq, lawyer Vijay Mishra, servant and driver in the Umesh Pal murder case.

Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav gave this order on Friday. After the hearing on October 29, the court had reserved its decision on these bail applications. Dr. Akhlaq Ahmed, brother-in-law of Meerut resident Atiq, is accused of giving shelter to the massacre bomber Guddu Muslim. While others are accused of conspiring to murder.

In support of the bail of Atiq’s brother-in-law Dr. Akhlaq, it was said that he was being implicated because he was a relative, while others had also declared themselves innocent. Bomber Guddu Muslim, who is absconding after the massacre, has a reward of Rs 5 lakh. Police claim that after committing the incident he had taken shelter in Dr. Akhlaq’s residence in Meerut. Akhlaq, arrested from Meerut, had approached the High Court in September 2023 for release on bail. Dr Akhlaq’s advocate had argued that he is a doctor by profession and is not named in the FIR. He has no connection with the world of crime. He has been implicated only because he is a relative of Atiq. The bail was opposed by the state government.

Atiq’s lawyer Vijay Mishra is accused of being an informer in the Umesh Pal murder case. Vijay Mishra was arrested from Lucknow. While seeking release on bail, his advocate Manju Singh had argued that he was being implicated because he was Atiq’s lawyer. Similarly, arguments of innocence were also given by Cash and Niaz. His lawyer had said that Cash was a driver even though he had left the job a long time ago. He has no criminal history. Niaz’s lawyer had also declared him innocent. Said that he had nothing to do with the incident. Nothing has been recovered from him, nor has he been named in the FIR.

Umesh Pal’s wife Jaya Pal’s advocate Praveen Pandey, on behalf of the government, Additional Advocate General Manish Goyal, while opposing the bail application, had said that all the accused have been actively involved in the murder case. The process of framing of charges in the trial court has not yet been completed. At present, a total of seven other accused including Atiq’s prize-winning wife Shaista Parveen, Ashraf’s wife Zainab and bomber Guddu Muslim are absconding. In such a situation, his release will affect the pending trial.
