1. Amsterdam Olympics (1928) – First Gold Medal
Only three years after the international hockey tour, India won its first gold in the Amsterdam Olympics by defeating Netherlands 3-0. Not a single goal was scored against India in the entire tournament.
2. Los Angeles Olympics (1932) – Record win
After four years, India won its second consecutive gold by defeating America 24-1. Dhyanchand scored 8 goals and Roop Singh scored 10 goals. This victory is still counted among the biggest victories in hockey history.
3. Berlin Olympics (1936) – Hat-trick of gold
Under the captaincy of Major Dhyan Chand, India won the third consecutive gold by defeating Germany 8-1 and showed the world that India is the real king of hockey.
4. London Olympics (1948) – First gold of independent India
One year after independence, India won the gold medal by defeating Britain 4-0. This victory became a proud moment in Indian sports history.
5. Helsinki Olympics (1952) – Fifth consecutive gold
India defeated Netherlands 6-1. Balbir Singh Senior scored 5 goals alone, which is still a record.
6. Melbourne Olympics (1956) – Win over Pakistan
For the first time, India and Pakistan came face to face in the final, where India won 1-0 and won its sixth consecutive gold.
7. Tokyo Olympics (1964) – Revenge for defeat
India took revenge for the defeat in the 1960 Olympics in Tokyo, winning the seventh gold by defeating Pakistan 1-0 in the final.
8. Hockey World Cup (1975) – India’s only title
