New Delhi . Amidst Donald Trump’s claim and discussion of secretly testing nuclear weapons, the US Air Force on Wednesday, November 5, launched the intercontinental ballistic missile Minuteman-III, which is capable of carrying three nuclear bombs simultaneously and can attack different targets. Its range is up to 13000 miles. Both Moscow and Beijing can come under its purview. On the other hand, China inducted its indigenously built aircraft carrier Fujian into the Navy on the same day. It is China’s largest and most modern carrier warship.
President Xi Jinping himself was present at the grand ceremony of launching Fujian in Sanya city of Hainan province on Wednesday. Fujian is China’s most advanced warship and the first aircraft carrier equipped with an electromagnetic catapult. With its inauguration, China becomes the second country, after the United States, to operate a carrier ship equipped with this aircraft launch technology.

Xi Jinping himself attended the launching
According to sources, President Xi Jinping attended the ceremony and then boarded the ship Fujian to receive information about the aircraft carrier’s combat capabilities and the use of its advanced electromagnetic catapult. The report also said that the decision to use electromagnetic catapult technology on Fujian was taken by Xi himself.
What is Fujian, how is it the new power of China?
Fujian is China’s most advanced aircraft carrier. It was first launched in June 2022. It is named after Fujian province. It is China’s first aircraft carrier to be equipped with Electromagnetic Catapult System (EMALS). This is the same technology which has also been used by the US Air Force. The same technology has also been used in the American warship USS Gerald R. Ford. This means that planes can fly faster from this warship. This will save both time and fuel.
What are the characteristics of Fujian?
According to a report, Fujian can launch three different types of aircraft with its electromagnetic catapult and flat flight deck. This year, China has also launched its fifth generation fighter aircraft J-35A Marine from the aircraft carrier. That means, China’s navy has now become quite powerful. This warship weighs 80,000 tons and can carry more than 50 aircraft. 70-100 aircraft and helicopters can be kept on this warship. Its length is 316 meters. It has a flat flight deck with three catapults and two aircraft lifts. This will be the first carrier with nuclear power. China aims to build a navy of 460 ships by 2030. China now has the world’s largest navy in terms of numbers, with more than 356 ships, submarines and other vehicles.
China overtakes America
The big deal is that while Fujian is capable of supporting take-off from China’s J-35 series of fighters, America’s Ford-class carriers will need modifications to fully support the F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter. Security experts say that the pace of growth of China’s career is worrying. This may increase China’s regional importance in other oceans including the South China Sea and may upset the regional defense balance.
Why tension for India?
This has also raised an alarm for India because the impact of Fujian can be seen in the Indian Ocean as well. According to experts, China’s three big warships will leave India behind in naval preparedness. Let us tell you that India currently has two aircraft carriers. One is INS Vikramaditya and the other is INS Vikrant. INS Vikrant will last for the next 30-40 years, but INS Vikramaditya will retire around 2035.
