A unique confluence of literature and culture was seen in Ghazipur, when the two-day Ghazipur Literature Festival organized by Bharat Dialogues got off to a grand start. This grand event was inaugurated by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, South African Ambassador Professor Anil Suklal, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sangeeta Balwant and Bharat Express founder and chief patron of the program Upendra Rai with the lighting of the lamp. This event became a memorable moment for literature lovers and intellectuals.
Ghazipur: Meeting place of literature and culture
Upendra Rai warmly welcomed hundreds of intellectuals, litterateurs and intelligentsia of Ghazipur who came from India and abroad. He termed the festival as a “historic occasion to connect with the roots”. He said that the fragrance of literature, culture and revolution resides in the soil of Ghazipur, and this event is reviving that pride.
“Ghazipur is my world” – Manoj Sinha’s emotional address
Chief guest Manoj Sinha, in his inspiring address, described the soil of Ghazipur as the land of sages, saints, ascetics, thinkers and revolutionaries. Referring to literary figures like Dr. Rahi Masoom Raza, Dr. Kubernath Rai and Dr. Viveki Rai, he said, “Ghazipur is the inspiring land of Advaita. For me, Ghazipur is my world. I make every effort to participate in any event to this land.” His words left everyone present in the auditorium emotional.
Launch of the world of Bhojpuri proverbs
On this occasion, the famous book of Ghazipur’s leading social worker Sanjeev Gupta “Bhojpuri Proverbs Ki Duniyaan” was also inaugurated by the guests. This book brings alive Bhojpuri culture and folk traditions, which was highly appreciated by the audience. The organizer of the event was Pooja Priyambada and the vote of thanks was given by Vivek Satya Mitra, whose efforts made this festival even more special.
Inauguration of “Towards the Roots” exhibition
After the inauguration ceremony, Manoj Sinha inaugurated the “Towards the Roots” exhibition organized at Lanka Maidan by cutting the ribbon. Abhishek Satya Mitra welcomed him. The exhibition showcases the rich cultural heritage of Ghazipur and a huge crowd gathered to see it.

This two-day festival is being organized in several sessions, in which there will be in-depth discussions on literature, culture and social issues. Due to the hard work of organizers Vivek Satya Mitra and Pooja Priyambada, this event is moving towards becoming a discussion festival. It will conclude on November 9 at 8 pm, which will include many more interesting sessions and activities.
