Azlan Shah Cup 2025 : The competition in the 31st Sultan Azlan Shah Cup will begin soon. Defender Sanjay will lead the Indian men’s hockey team for this cup. Because many senior players including regular captain Harmanpreet Singh have been rested for the prestigious invitational tournament to be held in Ipoh, Malaysia from November 23 to 30. Both India’s first-choice goalkeepers, Krishna Bahadur Pathak and Suraj Karkera, have been rested. Pawan and Mohit Honhalli Sasikumar have been selected in their place.
Sanjay, Jugraj Singh and Amit Rohidas are the three senior players included in the defence. Poovanna Chandura Bobby, Neelam Sanjeep Zeiss and Yashdeep Siwach are also included in the defence. The middle order will be in charge of Rajendra Singh, Rajkumar Pal, Neelkant Sharma, Ravichandran Singh, Vivek Sagar and Mohammad Rahim Mosin. Sukhjit Singh, Shilanand Lakra, Selvam Karti, Aditya Arjun Lalage, Dilpreet Singh and Abhishek will be the players in the forward line.
After the 23rd, India will play matches against Belgium (November 24), hosts Malaysia (November 26), New Zealand (November 27) and Canada (November 29). The tournament will be played in a round-robin format, with the top two teams qualifying for the finals on November 30. India last won the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in 2010 and were runners-up in 2019.
