India finished their T20I campaign on a high, registering a 2-1 series win over Australia. Washington Sundar’s all-round heroics earned him the Impact Player of the Series award. The last clash in Brisbane was called off due to rain.
In a heartwarming moment, India’s players applauded Australia’s squad as they left the ground. Inside the dressing room, the mood remained upbeat as team staffer Rahil was asked to present Washington Sundar with the Impact Player of the Series award. Sundar’s 61 runs and three wickets were key to India’s success.
Sundar matched his all-round brilliance with sharp fielding, helping India clinch the Hobart contest.
“It feels really special to receive this medal from Rahil. We all know how much effort he puts in every day to make things easier for the team. Playing here in Australia and getting a chance to contribute to our victory is an incredible feeling. I’m really happy to have played a part in the win. Thanks, everyone,” Sundar said.
Heading into the series, Washington Sundar faced questions over his place in India’s T20I squad, with many believing specialist spinner Kuldeep Yadav was the better option. But Sundar silenced the doubters in style, using his experience in Australian conditions to turn the tide in his favour.
Having wrapped up a successful outing in Australia, India will now take on South Africa. The tour includes two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is.
