Jammu and Kashmir are on the verge of a historic victory over Delhi in the Ranji Trophy, needing just 124 runs on the final day at the Feroz Shah Kotla. The crumbling pitch, which has favored spinners throughout, promises an exciting finish in this Group D encounter.

At stumps on the third day, J&K were 55/2 chasing 179, with the entire final day left to play. Debutant left-arm spinner Mannan Bhardwaj struck early, bowling Shubham Khajuria with a delivery that kept unusually low. Hrithik Shokeen followed up by dismissing left-hander Vivrant Sharma, who lunged forward only to see the off-stump bail dislodged by a sharply turning ball.

Delhi had posted 277 in their second innings, thanks to a brilliant knock of 72 off 73 balls from Ayush Badoni and a gritty 62 off 88 balls by Ayush Doseja. Openers Sanat Sangwan (34) and Arpit Rana (43) put together a solid 86-run stand, but it was the Delhi middle and lower order that struggled against the spinning duo of Vanshaj Sharma (6/68) and Sahil Lothra (3/73). The last five wickets fell for just 10 runs, leaving J&K with a manageable target for the final day.

Badoni’s innings, played on a tricky, low-bouncing surface, was a masterclass in handling spin. He repeatedly used his crease to smother the turn, making Vanshaj Sharma look pedestrian at times. The knock was a delight for cricket purists and would surely have made Delhi legend Ajay Sharma, a master of playing spin, proud.
