Tottenham receive positive Randal Kolo Muani update after specialist appointment

Tottenham forward Randal Kolo Muani will not require surgery on his fractured jaw, football.london understands.

The 26-year-old, on loan from PSG, had to come off at half-time in Spurs' 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Saturday after a collision with England international Harry Maguire in the 12th minute. "He actually struggled a little bit, but nothing big," said Tottenham boss Thomas Frankof the forward after the game.

However, Kolo Muani, who previously missed a spell after joining the north London side with a dead leg suffered in a training ground collision with Pape Matar Sarr, then had to withdraw from international duty with France and saw a specialist in the UK on Monday afternoon about his jaw.

football.london understands that the specialist confirmed the forward does indeed have a fractured jaw. However, it was a reasonably positive prognosis in that the Frenchman does not require surgery so his recovery time should be less than the six to eight weeks that has been speculated in recent days.

Kolo Muani had just begun to impress up front for Tottenham after regaining his fitness. His more positive prognosis will come as some relief to Frank, who is still awaiting Dominic Solanke's return from an ankle problem that has dogged him since the summer. It leaves Richarlison and Mathys Tel, who both scored against United, and academy product Dane Scarlett as Spurs' only fit senior strikers at the moment.

Tottenham will return to action after the international break with the first north London derby of the season at Arsenal and then a Champions League clash in Paris against Kolo Muani's parent club PSG.
