The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has launched a new verification system, through which citizens can now check the authenticity of any email, call or website. It can be ascertained whether the information has come from a genuine bank or institution or from a fraud group. The main objective of this system is to protect people from digital fraud and online scams. According to DoT, “This initiative will enable citizens to choose secure digital services and easily avoid the tricks of fraudsters.”

The Department of Telecommunications gave information about this facility by sharing a post on social media platform X. “Citizens can now use the #SancharSaathi portal to verify any suspicious call, email or website. It is extremely important to check any link or message before clicking on it,” the department said in its tweet.

Accurate information will be available from Sanchar Saathi portal.

  • Here users can check the authenticity of any bank or financial institution by entering its name, website, email or phone number.

If the information is genuine, the portal will display the official website link of that institution, email address, toll-free number and valid options to contact customer care. With this, the authenticity of any call or email can be immediately ascertained.

Use the system like this

  • First of all go to sancharsaathi.gov.in website.
  • Select “Check Mobile/Email/Website Authenticity” option there.
  • Now enter the number, email or website URL of the concerned bank or institution.
  • Within a few seconds you will know whether the information is real or fake.

Although at present the data of some private banks like ICICI Bank is still incomplete and information about WhatsApp numbers or customer service is limited, but this system is proving to be a big step towards digital security.
