In the glitzy and glamorous world of Bollywood where most relationships are superficial or for work its very rare to witness a solid bond between two superstars of their time. One such similar tale is of Dharmendra and Salman Khan. Dharmendra who is currently recovering at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after briefly being on a ventilator has spoken fondly of Salman Khan numerous times. Amidst his health updates an old video of him that shows his heartfelt bond with Salman Khan has resurfaced. When Dharmendra revealed that he wanted Salman Khan to play him in his biopic Back in 2015 during a chat Dharmendra was asked who could play him in a biopic. Without hesitation he said “Salman Khan. I think he has a lot of characteristics that are very similar to mine. I think he will be able to portray me onscreen perfectly.” The admiration went beyond professional respect. Dharmendra affectionately referred to Salman as Bhaijaan and often described him as someone who holds a “special place” in his heart. The reason this answer of Dharm Ji started doing rounds was because instead of choosing his own sons Bobby Deol Sunny Deol or his nephew Abhay Deol he chose Salman Khan. This just shows the affection Dharmendra holds for Salman Khan. Dharmendra on Salman Khan In another old interview Dharmendra recalled how his family’s goodwill made everyone from the industry feel connected to him but when it came to Salman it was personal. He said “Salman himself is a very good human being. I love him; he’s a wonderful person. He’s genuine.” Speaking about the first time Dharmendra met Salman Khan he said “Once I was shooting a film near a lake and that was the first time I saw Salman. He was quite shy then and even today he is very shy. During the shooting the camera dropped into the lake and he dived in to take it out. At that time I thought ‘He’s quite courageous too.’ He is an emotional man. If you aren’t a good person you are nothing.” Salman Khan visits Dharmendra amidst his health issues. Dharmendra who is currently recovering and admitted to the hospital had many celebrities visiting him during this health scare. Amongst them Salman Khan was reportedly one of the first celebrities to visit him. Fans and friends across the industry have been praying for the legendary actor’s speedy recovery. Hema Malini who also took to her social media debunked false information spreading about the veteran actor and said he is recovering and responding to the treatment. She further wrote “Please give due respect to the family’s need for privacy.”
