New Delhi: Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya unveiled the Kings Baton for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games (CWG) at DLF Avenue Saket on November 11. The ceremony was attended by Her Excellency Lindy Cameron the British High Commissioner to India and Dr. P.T. Usha President of the Commonwealth Games Association of India. The event organized by the Commonwealth Games Association of India was attended by several Olympic and CWG medallists such as Yogeshwar Dutt Achanta Sharath Kamal and Gagan Narang. Senior officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports the Commonwealth Games Federation and the Sports Authority of India were also present. Baton was designed by Indian visual artist Aaquib Wani Designed by celebrated Indian visual artist Aaquib Wani the Baton embodies Indias lively essence of art sports and sustainability the central themes of this years relay. Its design takes cues from the nations rich cultural heritage and natural beauty merging traditional artistry with modern design elements to represent Indias diversity and creative spirit. The artwork on the Baton beautifully captures the essence of our nation rooted in culture yet forward-looking in spirit. It truly reflects how art and sport can together inspire sustainability and growth. India has always believed in the power of sport to bring people and nations together and this moment reinforces that belief. As the Baton travels across the world it carries with it a message of friendship equality and a shared commitment to a brighter united future. The Batons design inspired by India’s art culture and sustainability perfectly represents how creativity and collaboration can bridge nations and inspire generations across the Commonwealth. This moment reinforces our shared belief in unity through sport. The 2026 Commonwealth Games is scheduled to start from July 23 to August 2 2026 in Glasgow Scotland. This will be the fourth time Scotland hosts the Games following editions in Edinburgh (1970 and 1986) and Glasgow (2014). The Baton will be on public display at DLF Avenue Mall in Delhi from November 12 to 14 after which it will head to Ahmedabad on November 14 for the next phase of the relay.
