Maruti Suzuki is set to make its highly anticipated entry into the Indian electric vehicle market with the launch of its first all-electric SUV, the eVitara, on December 2, 2025. This move marks a significant step for the country’s leading automaker as it embraces the growing trend of electric mobility. The eVitara is being manufactured at Maruti’s Hansalpur plant in Gujarat and is already being exported to international markets.

The electric SUV will be offered with two distinct battery pack options to cater to different consumer needs. A 49 kWh battery pack will be available, alongside a larger 61 kWh unit. The latter is claimed to provide an impressive range of over 500 kilometers on a single charge. The eVitara will initially be launched in a front-wheel-drive configuration, with an all-wheel-drive variant expected to be introduced at a later date. The powertrain is anticipated to deliver up to 174 PS in its top-spec version.

In terms of features, the Maruti Suzuki eVitara is expected to be well-equipped. The interior is likely to feature a large touchscreen infotainment system and a modern digital instrument cluster. On the safety front, the electric SUV is anticipated to come with up to seven airbags and an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), placing it on par with its competitors.

Positioned in the competitive mid-size electric SUV segment, the eVitara is projected to have an ex-showroom starting price in the range of ₹18 lakh to ₹20 lakh. Upon its launch, it will go up against established and upcoming rivals such as the MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, and the Hyundai Creta Electric.
