How did Kaal Bhairav appear?
According to mythology, the incident of Lord Shiva’s Bhairava form is very unique. Once all the gods asked Lord Brahma, who is immortal in this world? That is, which has neither beginning nor end. Then Brahmaji said, I am immortal in this universe. When the gods asked this question to Lord Vishnu, he said that I am the imperishable element of this living world. When both Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu were adamant on this matter. Then all the gods asked the four Vedas to test them to find out this matter. At that time, the Vedas considered neither Lord Vishnu nor Brahmaji as imperishable. Rather, Lord Shiva is indestructible.
Brahmaji insulted Lord Shiva
When Brahmaji heard this from the mouth of the Vedas, he became angry and then the fifth mouth of Brahma ji said some derogatory words about Shiva, hearing which the four Vedas became very sad. Then Lord Rudra appeared in the form of a divine light. Brahma ji said – “O Rudra! You were born from my body, I have named you ‘Rudra’ because of your excessive crying, so you come to my service.” Shiva got extremely angry at this behavior of Brahma and created a man named Bhairav. Then Bhairav, with the nail of the smallest finger of his left hand, cut off the fifth head of Brahma, who had uttered derogatory words towards Shiva, as a result of which he committed the sin of Brahmahatya.
