The peaceful Indonesian fishing village burst into laughter and cheers after locals reeled in a giant grouper.
A group of fishermen casting live-bait lines near the Tapormai estuary in Timika City were thrilled when they noticed a strong pull on one of the lines. They worked together to pull a giant grouper ashore as villagers gathered to watch and cheer, according to Newsflare.

A local resident named Yully said, “The fish probably weighed more than 80 kilograms. The community was very happy, and the meat was distributed to the villagers.”
The villagers reportedly caught another giant grouper the same day.
The giant grouper, known for its massive size and bulky body, can be found in the world’s largest coral reefs. It can weigh hundreds of kilograms and is valued both as a food source and for sport fishing. It lives in tropical and subtropical waters, often around coral reefs and river mouths.
