The case dates back to 1998 when during the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hain near Jodhpur Khan allegedly hunted a black buck which is considered a sacred animal by the Bishnoi community. Bina Kak and Salman Khans Connection in the Case Bina Kak held the forest portfolio in the Rajasthan government at some point which by definition gives oversight in wildlife and forest matters. Many media reports say Salman Khan and Bina Kak became publicly known to be friendly and she appeared in his films and they socialised; some locals claimed this connection may have helped slow the case. Kak herself denied any help; she said the case was already sub-judice during her tenure and that she had no role in influencing it.
