Hockey: Junior Hockey World trophy reached Lucknow, Yogi Adityanath welcomed

FIH Hockey Junior World Cup 2025: The trophy of the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025 to be held in Tamil Nadu reached Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, one of the stops of its tour of India. The trophy was welcomed here by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. 24 teams including India, China, Belgium, Japan, Spain, New Zealand, Chile, Canada, Australia will participate in the Junior Men’s Hockey World Cup.

Yogi Adityanath said on this occasion that welcoming the prestigious trophy of FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025 in Lucknow is a moment of joy for me and the people of the state. According to a statement, Yogi Adityanath said, “The arrival of this trophy in Uttar Pradesh is a moment reminiscent of the golden history of the state.” The contribution of Uttar Pradesh to hockey is unforgettable.”

Major Dhyan Chand Sports University is being constructed in Meerut.

Remembering Major Dhyan Chand, famous as the magician of hockey, he said that Major Dhyan Chand was born in the land of Uttar Pradesh. Under his leadership, the Indian hockey team was successful in winning gold medals in three Olympics.

The Chief Minister said, “The government is constructing Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Meerut. The first session has started from this year.” Yogi Adityanath also mentioned the famous hockey player KD Singh Babu. He said that to keep his memory alive, his residence in Barabanki is being prepared as a museum.

On this occasion, Yogi Adityanath honored the Padma awardees Mohammad Shahid, Ashok Kumar, Ravindra Pal, Syed Ali, Dr. RP Singh, Sujit Kumar, Abdul Aziz, Subodh Khandekar, Rajneesh Mishra, Mohammad Shakeel, Devesh Chauhan, MP Singh, Jagveer Singh, Rahul Singh, Vivek Singh, Lalit Upadhyay, Danish Mutjaba, Rajkumar Pal, Prem Maya, Ranjana Srivastava, Manju Bisht, Pushpa Srivastava, Preeti. Also remembered the contribution of hockey players like Dubey.

He said that even at present, Rajkumar Pal, Uttam Singh, Vishnukant Singh, Mumtaz, Sakshi, Jyoti, Purnima from Uttar Pradesh are making the state and the country proud by being selected in the senior-junior Indian team of women’s and men’s category.
