Effect of foods on brain health
The foods you eat have a profound effect not only on the body but also on the brain. Recently, Florida neuroscientist Robert Love has mentioned three such foods, which can gradually damage the brain.
Their consumption can reduce brain function over time. Love, who is working on Alzheimer’s prevention, says that these foods not only weaken memory, but also have a negative impact on sleep and ability to concentrate.
Seed oil increases swelling
According to Robert Love, peanut oil, canola oil, and other refined or processed vegetable oils are extremely harmful to the brain. He says that these oils are highly processed, which increases inflammation in the body, which is a major threat to the brain. It is considered a major cause of diseases like Alzheimer’s. He warned people to avoid ultra-processed foods, which contain large amounts of these oils.
Refined sugar spoils insulin and memory system
Love says the body is not naturally designed to digest such large amounts of refined sugar. He explains that the natural sugar present in fruits is beneficial for the brain, but consumption of refined sugar rapidly increases insulin and blood glucose. This process causes inflammation in the body, which ultimately damages brain cells and impairs memory.
Alcohol impairs memory and sleep quality
According to neuroscientists, alcohol not only damages the brain but also affects memory. Nearly 50 percent of people over the age of 21 in the United States consume alcohol regularly. Robert Love explains that it reduces the quality of sleep and also harms the good bacteria of the intestine. Since gut and brain health are interconnected, it directly impacts the brain.
Deep relationship between nutrition and brain
Love says that the body and mind are deeply interconnected. If any system of the body is unbalanced or inflamed, it also affects the brain. Therefore, a balanced diet, regular sleep and consumption of natural foods are essential for brain health. They recommend that fresh fruits, vegetables and healthy fats should be included in the diet instead of refined or processed foods.
