NewJeans to make long-awaited comeback after legal battle

K-pop girl group NewJeans is set to make a long-awaited comeback. All five members are preparing to resume their work under their agency ADOR, a unit of HYBE.

South Korea’s Yonhap News reported that the members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein have agreed to continue with the label. ADOR confirmed that Haerin and Hyein will officially return to the K-pop scene. The company also said it is checking the schedules of the remaining three members.

NewJeans had been inactive for several months due to a legal conflict with ADOR. The group accused the label of unfair treatment and management issues. In March, a South Korean court ruled in favor of ADOR. The court ordered the group to stop independent projects and continue under the label’s supervision.

This legal battle attracted massive media attention in South Korea, where entertainment agencies often have strict control over artists.

Earlier, South Korea’s famous K-pop group NewJeans has lost a court case against its own agency, Ador, after trying to end their contract early.

A court in Seoul ruled that NewJeans’ contract with Ador — which runs until 2029 — is still valid. The five members, Hanni, Hyein, Haerin, Danielle, and Minji, had accused the label of mistreatment and manipulation, but the judges rejected their claims.

The group said it is “impossible to return to Ador” and plans to appeal the decision.

NewJeans had argued that the firing of Min Hee-jin, their former CEO and mentor, broke their trust with the company. But the court disagreed, saying her dismissal did not violate the members’ contracts.
