South Africa won the toss and decided to bat first. South Africa had a good start. Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton also shared a half-century partnership. But after this, the visiting team's innings faltered a bit. Captain Temba Bavuma was also out cheaply after scoring 3 runs. However, a video from the Kolkata Test match is going viral, in which Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is seen saying something to Temba Bavuma.
On the last ball of the 13th over of South Africa's first innings, Bumrah trapped Temba Bavuma in front of the wickets and made a strong appeal for LBW. However, the on-field umpire ruled him out. Bumrah then spoke to his teammates about DRS.
During the conversation, Bumrah was heard saying something about South African captain Temba Bavuma in the stump mic. Bumrah said of Bavuma, "He's a dwarf too." His comment is now going viral on social media. Team India did not take a DRS at the time. However, Bavuma was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav shortly thereafter. Dhruv Jurel took a brilliant catch. Bavuma was dismissed for 3 runs.
