The world of The White Lotus is expanding once again. HBO’s Emmy-winning series, known for its satirical take on luxury and privilege, has chosen Thailand as the setting for its highly anticipated third season with early buzz suggesting that France may host the next chapter.

Created by Mike White, The White Lotus has built its reputation on exploring the contradictions of paradise: beauty and tension, wealth and vulnerability, comedy and discomfort. Each season follows a new group of guests at an exclusive resort, with stunning destinations serving as both backdrop and character.

Season 1, filmed in Hawaii, introduced the concept at a tropical Four Seasons resort, earning critical acclaim and multiple Emmy Awards. Season 2 followed in Sicily, Italy, bringing a new ensemble and a Mediterranean flair to the show’s sharp social commentary.

Season 3 transports viewers to Thailand, where production wrapped in August 2024 after filming across three spectacular Four Seasons properties in Bangkok, Phuket, and Koh Samui. Each location highlights a different side of Thai culture and scenery, from city skylines to serene beaches. The new season promises to continue the show’s exploration of human behavior amid opulence, while reflecting the country’s rich traditions and vibrant spirit.

Although HBO has not yet released official plot or casting details, anticipation remains high. The series is expected to premiere in late 2026 or early 2027, following an extended post-production period to capture the full scope of its Southeast Asian setting.

Meanwhile, attention has already turned toward Season 4, rumored to be filmed in France, with early scouting reportedly focused on Paris and the French Riviera.

While HBO has yet to confirm, the move would continue The White Lotus’ globe trotting tradition exploring new cultures and the illusions of paradise through its distinctive lens.
