Jawali - In a landmark ruling under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Fast Track POCSO Court in Jwalamukhi has sentenced Anil Kumar, also known as Tinku, aged 35, to six years of rigorous imprisonment for his attempt to molest an 8-year-old girl. The decision was made by Additional District and Sessions Judge Nitin Mittal.
The court has also levied a fine of ₹10,000 on the offender. Should he fail to pay this amount, he will face an additional six months in prison.
Details of the case reveal that the victim's mother filed a complaint at the Jwali Police Station on August 17, 2024, reporting that the incident took place the previous day while she was at the cowshed, leaving her daughter asleep at home. During her absence, the accused allegedly took the child to his home, where he attempted to molest her.
During the trial, the prosecution, represented by Navina Rahi, called upon 19 witnesses. After a comprehensive review of the evidence and testimonies, the court found the defendant guilty and issued the sentence.
This ruling highlights the judiciary's dedication to delivering justice in cases involving child crimes and emphasizes the necessity for prompt legal action under the POCSO Act.
