new drug development
New Delhi: Chinese scientists have started working on a new medicine to solve the problems to aging and old age. It is being claimed about this medicine that it can increase the lifespan of a person up to 150 years. This medicine is based on a natural element present in grape seeds. However, many scientists are viewing this claim with skepticism and believe that it cannot be considered reliable without larger trials on humans.
main ingredient of medicine
This anti-aging pill is being developed by China’s Shenzhen-based biotech company Longwei Biosciences. An element called Procyanidin C1 (PCC1) is being used in this, which is found in grape seed extract. The company claims that this element is capable of eliminating old and weak cells in the body, while protecting the healthy cells. On this basis, it is being claimed that consumption of this medicine can help in increasing lifespan.

Results of research done on rats
Testing of this drug began in 2021 through a study published in the journal ‘Nature Metabolism’. In this study, PCC1 was tested on mice, which resulted in the death of old cells in the mice, while the healthy cells remained safe.
According to research, consumption of this medicine increased the average age of rats by 9%, and if compared to the initial age, their age increased by 64%.

Scientists warn
However, many experts are cautious about this claim. Scientists at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging say that the results found on rats are encouraging, but it will not be so easy to apply them to humans. The process of aging is complex, so any drug will require years of large-scale clinical trials to prove its safety.
Development of Longevity Research in China
Longevity research growing rapidly in China
In China, research to longevity and anti-aging is getting government support. Many companies are investing extensively in this sector. However, scientists believe that living 150 years is still a dream, and it will take time to realize it.
This discovery has increased curiosity among people globally. People are wondering whether it will become normal to live beyond a hundred years in the future? But doctors’ advice remains the same: a healthy diet, regular exercise and a better lifestyle are the keys to a long life.
